# About ChikanBagh
**Lucknawi Chikankari, done right.**
ChikanBagh was born from a simple belief: the 200-year-old art of Lucknawi chikankari deserves better than to be a footnote on a streetwear rack. It deserves its own home.
*Bagh* means garden — and that's exactly what this craft is. Every kurta, every suit, every yard of fabric carries the same hand-embroidered floral motifs that have been stitched into Lucknow's identity since the days of the Nawabs. Delicate shadow-work, fine *jaali* cutwork, and thread that turns plain cotton into something you want to keep for years, not one season.
We work directly with the karigars (artisans) of Lucknow who've spent generations perfecting this needlework — passed from hand to hand, never a machine. When you buy from ChikanBagh, you're not just buying a kurta. You're keeping a craft alive.
**What you'll find here:**
- Authentic hand-embroidered chikankari kurtas, suits, and sets
- Fabrics and colors chosen for how they wear in real Indian summers
- No shortcuts — every piece is checked for the stitch quality this craft is known for
**Our promise:** no mass-printed "chikankari-style" prints. No polyester dressed up as cotton. If it's from ChikanBagh, an actual needle touched it.
Lucknow's garden, on your doorstep.
